Texas Window Tint Laws (2026)

In Texas, front side windows must let in at least 25% of light; back side windows any darkness and the rear window any darkness. Windshield: above the AS-1 line or top 5 inches (whichever is higher), 25% VLT or lighter, 25% reflectance or less, not red, blue or amber.

Notes
The state may allow a 3% tolerance on the front side window figures. Rear window may be any darkness only if the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides showing 200 feet to the rear. Vehicles registered outside Texas are exempt.
