Privacy Policy

FindDetailer is a directory of auto detailing businesses in the United States. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who else sees it. It covers three different groups of people: visitors who browse the site, owners who create an account, and the businesses listed in the directory.

If you only browse the site

You do not need an account to use FindDetailer, and we do not ask you to identify yourself. We use Trafnova for traffic analytics. It is cookieless and does not track you across other websites; it records aggregate page views, referrers, and coarse location derived from your IP address, and does not store your IP address itself.

The only cookie we set is the session cookie that keeps you signed in after you log in. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party ad trackers on this site.

If you create an account

We store the email address, name, and phone number you give us, plus a hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and name from Google instead of a password; we do not receive your Google password or your contacts.

While you are signed in we log the pages you visit within the site, together with your IP address, browser user agent, and the referring page. This is an activity log used to investigate abuse and support requests. It exists only for signed-in accounts - it is not kept for anonymous visitors.

Anything you publish on your listing - business description, phone number, website, opening hours, services, photos - is public by design. Do not put anything there you would not want indexed by search engines.

If your business is listed

Most listings were compiled from publicly available business information: name, address, phone number, website, services offered, and publicly displayed ratings. We create these listings without contacting the business first, the same way any directory does.

Who else sees the data

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. Data reaches the following providers only because they run part of the service:

• Maileroo - delivers our transactional email (confirmation links, password resets, listing notices). It receives the recipient address and the message.
• Trafnova - traffic analytics, as described above.
• Google - only if you choose to sign in with Google, which tells Google that you signed in here.
• Self-hosted error monitoring - when something breaks, a diagnostic report is recorded on our own server. It can include the URL and browser involved.

We also disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect the service against abuse.

Sending you email

Account email is transactional: confirming your address, resetting your password, telling you a listing was published. We do not run a marketing newsletter, and we do not sell your address to anyone who does.

Keeping and deleting data

Account data is kept while the account exists. Ask us to delete your account and we remove it along with the listings you created and their photos.

Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask us to delete it - write to [email protected]. We answer these requests without requiring an account or a fee.

Children

FindDetailer is a tool for finding a business, not a service for children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we update the effective date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after that date means the updated policy applies.
